Restoration

Restoration (Latin - restarriro - restore - the process of restoration and bringing back original appearance to antic objects, works of art, decorative art and architecture. Professional restoration has emerged at the time of accumulation of private collections of art, when it became necessary to extend the term of existence (functioning) of artworks.

The first mentioning of the restorers is dated to the Middle Ages, major schools of professional restoration began to take shape in the XVII-XVIII centuries.

Frame restoration

It is very often a case, when artistic frame is no less valuable than a painting itself which justifies the cost of the repair and restoration of frames. Restoration of the molded frame may include copying of the lost details and their insertion to replace the missing ones. A carved frame is no less difficult to get restored and renovated. It's worth noting that cracking doesn't necessarily affect old frames but it also does affect modern ones and those which are made with the technological flaws or stored in inappropriate conditions.
